Fees, Charges and Refunds

Fees are based on the non-profit cost of offering units and qualifications.

There are separate schedules of fees for units taken through instruction and for units taken through Recognition of Prior Learning.

Students may enter into time payment contracts with ACAS or its member colleges.

Recognition of Prior Learning

You pay for the assessments only; you do not pay for tuition. If you do not pass pass on the second attempt and need to be assessed again, you must pay again for the next assessment.

Tuition track

If you take tuition, fees are on a "pay-as-you-go" basis, that is, at the beginning of each unit. The Centre does not hold fees in trust for students, and does not accept payment of fees for units before one month from the commencement of the unit.

Tuition fees may include any written or information materials required to complete the module.

Fees paid later than the commencement of the unit incur an additional late fee of 10% and accrue every six months.

If instruction or assessment is individualized or does not follow a prescribed schedule, the commencement shall be deemed to be upon either:
(a) commencement of actual instruction or assessment, or
(b) provision of all self-study materials necessary for commencement.

Refunds

Students withdrawing from a unit in its first week of may receive a refund of 50% of the tuition fee for that unit. No refund will be payable for students withdrawing after the end of the first week.

Timeframes

In principle, time frames for individualized studies are very flexible and you may negotiate a timeframe that suits you. If you do not finish a unit in the allotted time, you may ask for an extension of time. However, if you pass the time extension, with no further satisfactory completion, you may be required to pay for the unit again if you still wish to complete it.
